Join us for a full day of creativity and winter loveliness at Cottage Orné, with Bertie Valentine. Spend the day in our Studio designing and hand-painting your own lampshade, with a long lunchtime pause for a delicious meal, a sauna session and, if you’re feeling brave, an ice-bucket shower or cold plunge in the pool. A lovely chance to slow down, make something beautiful and enjoy a proper day out at our little Cornish hamlet.
With Christmas just around the corner, you’ll transform a simple lampshade into a unique piece of art - something special for your own home or a thoughtful handmade gift.
Everything is included, with stencils and inspirational imagery to help spark ideas. No experience is needed; Hester (Bertie Valentine) will be there to give plenty of guidance throughout the day to help bring your design to life.
Morning Session | 10:00 – 13:00
The morning begins with a welcome tea and coffee before Hester guides you through design planning, colour selection and composition. You’ll explore different ideas and inspiration before developing your own design, using the stencils and imagery provided to help spark your creativity.
You’ll then draw your chosen design onto your lampshade and begin applying the base colour, with Hester on hand throughout to offer guidance, encouragement and creative support as your lampshade starts to take shape.
Lunch Break + Sauna | 13:00 – 14:30
There is an extended lunch break, giving you time to step away from your painting and enjoy a proper pause. A beautiful, warming light lunch will be laid out for you to help yourself to, and there will be the option to enjoy a sauna session (included) in one of our Shepherd’s Hut Saunas, accompanied by a quick cool with an ice-bucket shower or even a cold plunge in our outdoor pool for the hardy (please bring your own towel if you’re not staying with us).
You’re also welcome to wander through the grounds, take in the winter surroundings, or simply relax and enjoy the little hamlet.
Afternoon Session | 14:30 – 17:30
The afternoon returns to the studio for a final creative session, where you’ll paint your lampshade, building on the design and base colour you created in the morning. Hester will be on hand throughout to offer guidance and encouragement, helping you develop your ideas and bring your design to life.
By the end of the day, you’ll have your very own hand-painted lampshade to take home! Ready to brighten up your home over Christmas and beyond, or to wrap up as a truly one-of-a-kind handmade gift.
Tickets inc. all equipment, materials, light refreshments, a delicious lunch and a sauna session (and cold plunge/swim):
£115 for Guests (staying with us).
£130 for Non-Guests (visiting for the day).
